"WENDLAND"

About
The Wendland is a magic place in middle of nowhere Germany.
In the late 70s, german goverment decide to build there a big nuclear waste storage, hoping that nobody will mind. They were wrong.
A lot of activists, hippies etc came to the Wendland to protest. In case of that it became a solidarity between those activists and the local people, mostly very conserative farmers, who were afraid of their existence. It comes to riots between those people and the german government.
(The german anti-nuclear movement was born. Brings one of germany's biggest political party: „Die Grünen“.)
Untill today you can see this solidarity in the Wendland. As a result of that, many activists, hippies, artist etc moved to the Wendland (Must say: It's very cheap to buy a house there and it is a very nice place, too). So a comunity grow there of alternative people in good relationship of the local people.
Each year in summer there is a bunch of events in the Wendland called „Kulturelle Landpartie“. A lot of art markets, concerts, parties all over the Wendland. One of the biggest is called „Mützingenta“. It's a meeting point for artists, showman, hippies, dropouts etc from all over germany and of course the long established people there, in the mix.
Those pictures taken there, to document that vibe and the Schoppe family who bougt there an old brick factory. for the fothcoming fotobook: „Die alte Ziegelei“.
